Small Business Majority’s Outreach Team advocates for entrepreneurs on two fronts: It supports policies that benefit small businesses and it offers webinars and in-person events that help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. We have found this work to be even more important as small businesses experience rising inflation, supply chain disruptions and workforce challenges in the aftermath of the pandemic.

On April 11, Small Business Majority's California Policy Director Bianca Blomquist testified before the Assembly Committee on Arts, Tourism, Sports and Entertainment in support of AB 1669, legislation that would establish the California Historically Significant District Program, an important program that can revitalize and support historically and culturally significant commercial corridors and small businesses in the state.

On April 4, Small Business Majority's California Policy Director Bianca Blomquist submitted a letter in support of AB 1392, legislation that would require large hospitals to submit a plan to the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) to increase procurement from minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises.

Small Business Majority supports California's Medical Group Financial Transparency Act

As a representative of the more than four million small businesses in California, Small Business Majority is pleased to support AB 616 (Rodriguez), the Medical Group Financial Transparency Act. This bill would advance efforts to improve healthcare affordability by ensuring that healthcare purchasers and consumers have access to important information about the finances of large medical groups and other physician organizations.

Small Business Majority supports California bill to discourage anticompetitive behaviors in the healthcare industry

As a representative of the more than four million small businesses in California, Small Business Majority is pleased to support AB 1091, which will discourage anticompetitive behaviors in the healthcare industry. This bill will prevent anticompetitive contracting provisions and strengthen oversight of hospital mergers and consolidation by the Attorney General, a key measure to control healthcare costs and affordability for small businesses.

Small Business Majority opposes bill to limit California’s Attorney General's oversight of nonprofit hospital mergers

As a leading representative of the four million small businesses in California, Small Business Majority writes to Senate Health Committee Chair to oppose SB 774 (Jones), which would severely limit the authority of California’s Attorney General to protect access to and affordability of hospital services provided by most hospitals in California. This would in turn impact healthcare costs for Californians, including members of the small business community who already struggle with access to affordable care.

This is particularly important to entrepreneurs who struggle to afford healthcare costs.
