This event is for business owners and employers to gain a better understanding of their role in protecting and developing human capital with workplace retirement benefits, investments & savings, and financial education. If you are an employer looking to leverage benefits to recruit and retain talent, and/or if you are a business owner who has put your soul, elbow grease, and financial resources into building your business (perhaps at the expense of your current financial wellbeing) this event is for you! During this lunch and learn event, attendees will hear about private and public sector solutions and resources that can support the financial well-being of business owners and their employees.

Join Small Business Majority, Valley Community Small Business Development Center, Central Valley Community Bank, and Fresno First Bank for an in-depth workshop series that focuses on the 5 Cs of credit and why bank loans are hard to get, certified development corporation programs, alternative lending and opportunity fund programs, crowd-sourced funding, equity funding, and more.


This series will provide background on the overall lending environment. Topics of discussion will include what type of lending opportunities are available, which ones should you pass on, and what goals you should have for business capital/financing.

In an effort to make sure businesses across the state get the support they need to prepare for FAMLI, the Division will be hosting in-person regional town halls across the state to give employers an opportunity to learn about the voter-approved program and ask the Division their questions in a small, hometown setting. 

Virtual options will be available for each in-person stop and will cover topics like:

  • How to calculate premiums
  • Options for local governments
  • How self-employed workers can participate in FAMLI
  • Benefits for small businesses.
