Colorado Director Lindsey Vigoda and small business owner Alejandro Flores-Muñoz provided testimony on April 13 in support of SB 21-199, which will remove barriers to access certain public opportunities for undocumented entrepreneurs and support the immigrant small business community in Colorado.
Small Business Majority submitted a letter to Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez in support of AB 2149, which will protect small restaurant owners and their customers at a time when small business owners are most vulnerable.

Small Business Majority submitted a letter to the Georgia Senate Finance Committee to ask them to remove legislation implementing a CAPCO tax credit program from HB 587, which would provide $150 million worth of tax credits to “certified capital companies.” The CAPCO model is fundamentally flawed and this money would be much better spent directly supporting Georgia's small businesses.
Colorado Director Lindsey Vigoda testified to the Colorado House Business Affairs & Labor Committee in support of House Bill 21-1167, which would cap retainage for all public and private entities at 5% and allow small construction and subcontract firms to be more competitive against larger firms.
Johana Hernandez has been surrounded by fashion her whole life. Growing up, her parents worked in sewing factories in Los Angeles, which enabled Johana to learn all about garment design and the production of high-end clothing firsthand. In the beginning, making her own clothes was simply a hobby that Johana and her mother enjoyed doing together in their spare time, but soon it became a passion and her path to entrepreneurship.
Small Business Majority Board Member Jessica Milano testified in front of the U.S. the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs about the impacts the COVID-19 pandemic has had on Main Street. Specifically, she spoke on how many of the communities hardest hit by the pandemic have been communities of color, how despite significant Federal support, minority-owned businesses continue to experience challenges accessing capital, and how Congress should reauthorize the State Small Business Credit Initiative to address these market gaps.
After a trip to visit a friend’s son at a local pediatric ward left Kevin Gatlin disheartened, he became determined to make lengthy hospital stays more comfortable for kids and parents alike. He thought about how his kids utilize the limited space in their own bedrooms by playing games, doing homework and reading on their beds. From this point, Kevin let his imagination run wild and created Playtime Bed Sheets, interactive sheets to help keep kids entertained from the comfort of a bed.
Small Business Majority submitted a letter to the Georgia House Committee on Judiciary in support of HB 183 (Rep. Marvin Lim), which would allow small businesses to sue larger businesses for unfair or deceptive practices under the Fair Business Practices Act (FBPA).
On February 11, Small Business Majority submitted a letter to the Chairwoman of Budget & Fiscal Review Committee and the Chairman of the Committee on Budget in support of Governor Newsom's proposed budget, which includes additional funding and support for small businesses.
