Growing up in India, Pallavi Pande ate her meals using banana leaves as plates. This sparked her passion for sustainability and being close to nature. Raising her family in Portland, Ore. inspired her to reconnect with her heritage and share this tradition with the western world.
Access to capital and opportunities empower small businesses to develop and grow into the pillars of our local communities and national economy. However, many small businesses and entrepreneurs face barriers, particularly rural, women, and minority-owned businesses, that limit their ability to grow. To address the capital and resource gaps for entrepreneurs, Small Business Majority advocates for policy proposals that foster responsible small business lending practices, increased access to equitable financing tools and programming that supports their economic growth.
On April 25, Small Business Majority's Colorado Director Lindsey Vigoda testified before the Colorado House Public & Behavioral Health & Human Services Committee on HB 23-1303, legislation that includes critical protections for Coloradans and small businesses in the event of an insurance company failure, which would severely impact their ability to access affordable healthcare.

Today, Small Business Majority sent a letter to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) urging the agency to enact its proposed rule to ban non-compete agreements. This letter is accompanied by personal testimony from small business owners impacted by non-compete agreements.
More than 400 small business owners and business organizations signed on to our letter urging the Federal Trade Commission to enact its proposed rule to ban non-compete agreements. Non-compete agreements are a significant impediment to entrepreneurship, create a non-level playing field and impede the ability of employees to maximize their skills.

This program would allow small businesses in the state to access and offer this benefit for their employees, helping them overcome obstacles in attracting and retaining a ready workforce.

On April 4, Small Business Majority's California Policy Director Bianca Blomquist submitted a letter in support of AB 1669, legislation that would establish the California Historically Significant District Program, an important program that can revitalize and support historically and culturally significant commercial corridors and small businesses in the state.
On April 7, Small Business Majority submitted a letter to the U.S. Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions, urging the committee to confirm the nomination of Julie Su as the next Secretary of Labor. Deputy Secretary Su is collaborative, works well with small business groups, and will ensure that small businesses and their employees are truly supported and prioritized.
