Small Business Majority Supports the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022

Today, John Arensmeyer, CEO and founder, submitted a letter to Congressional leadership offering strong support for the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The Inflation Reduction Act's provisions would improve access to healthcare, increase tax enforcement on large corporations, and make meaningful climate change investments.

Small businesses and their employees have historically comprised a disproportionate share of the working uninsured population. What's more, more than half of all ACA marketplace enrollees are small business owners, self-employed, or small business employees. That is why the provisions which extend the Affordable Care Act’s premium subsidies through 2025 and empower Medicare to begin negotiating the price of prescription drugs in 2023 would significantly improve the small business ecosystem.

The bill also includes provisions to ensure big corporations pay their fair share through a 15% minimum tax and IRS enforcement. In addition to the policies outlined above, we support the bill’s investments in energy, security, and climate change. These appropriations, particularly those allocated to disadvantaged communities, farmers, and rural communities, will sustain our communities while building a thriving equitable clean energy economy for our future.
