On April 14, Small Business Majority, joined by nearly 20 business organizations nationwide, sent a letter to the administration expressing concerns about the SBA’s recent decision to cut its workforce by 43%, which represents roughly 2,700 employees nationwide. In the letter, the groups emphasize that this decision, paired with the announcement that the SBA will assume responsibility for the $1.6 trillion federal student loan portfolio, will further strain the agency’s ability to effectively serve America’s 34 million small businesses during a time of growing economic uncertainty.
