The U.S. federal appeals court ruling today blocking the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule is a major letdown for hardworking small business owners across the nation who support this standard. According to Small Business Majority's scientific opinion polling, 73 percent of entrepreneurs favor the rule, designed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reduce smog and soot crossing state lines.

Statement by John Arensmeyer, founder and CEO of Small Business Majority, regarding rebates totaling $1.1 billion insurers were required to send small employers, other customers under reform law

The deadline for health insurers to send $1.1 billion in rebates to customers whose premium dollars they failed to spend in accordance with the Medical Loss Ratio provision of the Affordable Care Act was Aug. 1, and with millions of small employers getting money back, this news is evidence that reform is already starting to work for them.

Statement by John Arensmeyer, founder and CEO of Small Business Majority, regarding the House's extension of high-income tax cuts, and the failed motion to recommit for the benefit of small business

In failing to approve the motion to recommit on H.R. 8, a motion that would have amended the Tax Cuts for the Wealthy Act passed by the House yesterday and put the saved money toward small business expensing and deficit reduction,‰ legislators forfeited an attempt to help small business owners at a time when they need comprehensive tax reform the most. This motion would have produced tangible benefits for our nation's chief job creators. But as is all too often the case, politics got in the way of policy.

Colorado small business owners believe clean energy investments spur job creation and economic growth, and agree the fate of Solyndra doesn't mean government should stop investing in renewable technologies

Opinion polling shows nearly three-quarters of Colorado small business owners believe government investments in clean energy have an important role in creating jobs and boosting the economy, and they support continued investments in clean and renewable technologies, even when asked specifically about Solyndra: 61 percent agree the failure of the company, which received a $535 million loan guarantee from the federal government, doesn't mean the government should stop investing in renewable technologies.

By voting today to extend tax cuts for Americans making less than $250,000 annually, Senators kept in place an important benefit for small business owners struggling to grow, hire or even just meet payroll. A vast 97 percent of American entrepreneurs make less than $200,000 annually. Extending the tax cuts would help these Main Street job creators save money so they can grow their businesses, and with them, the economy.

Vast majority of Michigan small business owners believe clean energy investments spur job creation and economic growth, and back state standards for minimum renewable energy sources

Michigan small business owners overwhelmingly support increasing the state's renewable energy standard to 25 percent by 2025, according to opinion polling released by Small Business Majority. Nearly eight in 10 (79 percent) Michigan small businesses support setting standards that require utilities to meet a certain percentage of energy demand through renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and bio-fuels (for example, requiring a 25 percent target in renewable fuels by 2025).
