Entrepreneurs show widespread concern about budget crisis and want lawmakers to act

Washington, DCA scientific opinion poll released today shows nearly eight in 10 small business owners are aware of the so called "fiscal cliff"a host of tax increases and billions of dollars in automatic spending cuts that will take effect on Jan. 1 if Congress and the president can't agree on a plan to reduce the deficit by yea's end. Washington, D.C. With the October jobs numbers out, and the private sector adding 171,000 jobs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, it's evident our country is on its way to recovery. As the economy improves, it's also clear businesses are becoming more confident in our ability to rebound. A scientific opinion poll also released in October found most of the country's smallest businesses, those with 10 employees or fewer, are optimistic about the future of their business and the economy.

A report analyzing employer-sponsored health insurance, released by the Commonwealth Fund today, reveals a near-10 percent decrease in health insurance offer rates at small firms since 2001, and shows that small business employees are not only less likely than employees of big businesses to be offered and eligible for health insurance, but often receive less generous coverage than employees at larger companies.

Entrepreneurs agree no one likes to raise taxes, but because of budget crisis 52 percent believe we should let tax cuts for the wealthiest 2 percent expire at end of year

Washington, D.C. A scientific opinion poll released today shows the majority of small businesses recognize the severity of our country's economic situation, and believe that allowing the current tax cuts for the top 2 percent of earners to expire at the end of the year is the right thing to do given the current budget crisis.
