Small Business Tax Reform Coalition urges Congress to maintain robust IRS funding
On July 8, the Small Business Tax Reform Coalition (SBTRC), a joint initiative of Small Business Majority and Main Street Alliance, sent a letter to the House and Senate Financial Services and General Government Subcommittees, urging them to preserve robust funding for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in the FY 2026 appropriations bill. Given the IRS’s critical role in providing tax filing assistance to entrepreneurs and collecting trillions in annual tax revenue, Small Business Majority research found that over 80% of small business owners say that the agency needs more resources to improve customer service, audit large corporations, and provide tax filing assistance.
