Small Business Majority supports lowering retainage caps in Colorado

Small Business Majority submitted testimony to the Colorado Senate Business Labor & Technology Committee in suport of House Bill 21-1167, which would cap retainage for all public and private entities at 5% and allow small construction and subcontract firms to be more competitive against larger firms.

Nearly a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, small business owners continue to experience significant setbacks and reduced customer demand. A national survey of small business owners spotlights the distressing effects of the pandemic and what owners anticipate in the months to come. The polling also reveals the disproportionate impact of the economic crisis on small business owners of color, particularly Black, Latino and Asian American/Pacific Islander entrepreneurs. 

2020 Missouri Policy Agenda

Small Business Majority has created a comprehensive state policy agenda to ensure entrepreneurship is at the center of a thriving and inclusive economy in Missouri. The state’s more than 520,000 small businesses employ 1.1 million people (about half of the private workforce) and created more than 32,000 jobs.

The Agenda for Virginia’s entrepreneurs

Virginia is home to more than 880,000 small businesses, employing 1.6 million people and accounts for 99.5% of all businesses in the state. They play a significant role in our state economy and workforce. However, national economic uncertainty coupled with an especially fast-changing business landscape has required small businesses to adapt, yet again. As such, state governments must pass policies that address the new burdens that businesses are now facing.
