Please join Small Business Majority and Thumbtack on Capitol Hill for a reception in honor of National Small Business Week. The event will recognize Chairwoman Nydia M. Velázquez, Chairman Marco Rubio, Ranking Members Senator Ben Cardin and Congressman Steve Chabot, as well as other members of the U.S. House Committee on Small Business and U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Local small business owners, representatives from business organizations and other stakeholders will also be in attendance.

The two-hour reception will provide networking opportunities for attendees to connect with local small business owners and business leaders. Those in attendance will also have the chance to interact with members and staff of the House and Senate Small Business Committees and engage around important small business topics and policies.

Strictly Business: An FTC Forum on Small Business Financing

Founder & CEO John Arensmeyer will participate in a panel at "Strictly Business: An FTC Forum on Small Business Financing." The forum will examine trends and consumer protection issues in this marketplace, including the recent proliferation of online loans and alternative financing products. John's panel will focus on consumer protection risks and efforts to mitigate those risks in the small business financing marketplace.

Retirement Made Easy for Inland Empire Small Businesses

Join Small Business Majority and United Ways Inland Valleys for a webinar that covers the state’s new CalSavers Retirement Savings Program. This program will be a portable workplace retirement savings account for private-sector workers whose employers are unable to offer a retirement program. The program will be operated by a private third party administrator overseen by the state and the accounts will be funded entirely by modest employee contributions. This means small businesses will be able to help their employees access a retirement savings program at no added cost to their business.
