Small Business Speaks: Two days of advocacy in Washington, DC

This September, Small Business Majority gathered 30 small business owners in Washington, DC for an advocacy fly-in event. We were excited to bring entrepreneurs from diverse industries and backgrounds to meet with key Administration officials, as well as several U.S. Senators on Capitol Hill to discuss the importance of small business-forward policies.

Sisters Lakila Bowden and Kamille Richardson are reframing disability and disproving myths that providing accommodations for differently abled employees is expensive and burdensome to businesses through their consulting company, iSee Technologies.

Kamille explains, “People look at inclusivity through a lens of limitation, but we teach that inclusivity is about unlocking people’s capabilities, which provide value for companies. It is all about creative problem solving.”

Small Business Majority has released a new opinion poll of women small business owners, which revealed that they view reproductive rights as essential to economic security. In addition, the poll found that 72% of women entrepreneurs support a federal law to ensure that women have the right to access abortion care and that 78% are concerned about restrictions on birth control.

On our resource portal Venturize, we are compiling information on new funding opportunities, relevant tips and resources on building more resilient small businesses.
