Legislation passed today by the Senate Finance Committee the final committee to consider healthcare reform represents an important next step in our nation's struggle to fix our broken healthcare system. American small business owners are being crushed by exorbitant healthcare costs, or simply can't afford coverage at all and remain unprotected if illness or injury strikes. Sausalito, CA, Sept. 24, 2009: Recent research shows the majority of Pennsylvania small businesses are struggling with the high costs of healthcare, and believe healthcare reform is necessary and important in getting the economy back on track.

A statewide survey of 200 randomly selected small businesses found that affordability is the primary obstacle in obtaining health insurance. Pennsylvania was one of 15 states polled over the summer by Small Business Majority, a leading national small business advocacy organization focused on healthcare reform.
