Event open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about new small business and individual marketplaces, and how to enroll in one of the health insurance marketplaces

Columbus, Ohio—The Franklinton Board of Trade, Grandview Area Chamber, Upper Arlington Area Chamber of Commerce, Forge Columbus, Short North Alliance, Bexley Area Chamber of Commerce, and Long Street Business Association, in conjunction with small business organization Small Business Majority, will host an interactive event on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 on the healthcare law's impact on Ohio small businesses and how entrepreneurs can enroll in the state's health insurance marketplaces.

"We believe it's important for small business owners to learn more about the healthcare law and how it all affects them," said Michelle Wilson, Executive Director of the Grandview Area Chamber and Upper Arlington Area Chamber of Commerce. "These interactive dialogues are a great way for small businesses to get the information they need to take advantage of and comply with key provisions of the healthcare law, and for us to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns."

The $15 event, which is open to all small business owners, will feature Small Business Majority's Ohio Outreach Manager, Michaela Hahn Burriss, who will discuss the topics most relevant to small businesses, including small business tax credits, wellness grants and cost containment provisions. Burriss will also explain how the marketplace functions for self-employed business owners.

A question and answer period will follow the discussion. Local certified insurance agents, healthcare providers and other healthcare experts will be available for assistance.

"Educating small business owners about how to access these new healthcare options, either the small business portal or the individual marketplace, gives them new options to obtain health insurance for themselves, their families and their employees," said Burriss. "With the small business health insurance marketplace open year round, entrepreneurs will be able to use what they learn right now to secure the coverage they need."

The event will take place on Wednesday, December 2nd from 8:00 a.m. —10:00 a.m. (EST).
