For Immediate Release:
Tuesday, February 16, 2016

Free event for small business owners to discuss key issues impacting small business owners including healthcare, family medical leave policies, retirement security and workplace nondiscrimination

University Center, Mich.—Small Business Majority with special guest Congressman Dan Kildee will host a free interactive event on Thursday, February 18 for small business owners to discuss key workforce issues impacting Michigan small business owners such as paid sick leave, family medical leave policies and raising the minimum wage.

Nationally and locally, the environment surrounding workforce issues is rapidly changing, and small business owners need opportunities to add their voices to the conversation. This roundtable offers a space for small business owners to engage in candid conversations and provide input on best practices for implementation of workforce programs and services in Michigan.

"Policymakers are considering many new workforce policies and programs that can really benefit small business owners," said Trent Varva, Michigan Outreach Manager for Small Business Majority. "It's important that small business owners are able to offer feedback on these changes and learn about different programs that can help their businesses and their employees."

This forum is specifically designed for small business owners and business leaders. The event will take place at Curtiss Hall at Saginaw Valley State University from 9:00am to 10:00am EST on Thursday, February 18.
