Michael Negron Joins Small Business Majority Board of Directors
Negron, a former White House advisor on economic policy, joins a board of seasoned small business professionals whose experiences and perspectives inform the direction of Small Business Majority
Washington, D.C. — Small Business Majority is pleased to announce that Michael Negron, a former White House special assistant to the president for economic policy and former member of the National Economic Council, is the newest member of the organization’s Board of Directors.
“I'm proud to join Small Business Majority’s Board of Directors to advocate on behalf of the nation's entrepreneurs,” Negron said. “Small businesses are the heart and soul of the American economy and I have worked to support their growth and success during previous roles at the federal, state and local levels of government. Small Business Majority’s work to shape policy is so critical right now, with federal lawmakers advancing major changes that would have a significant impact on small business, from increasing tariffs, pursuing mass deportations of undocumented immigrants and attempting major cuts to federal programs.”
Negron is currently a fellow at Groundwork Collaborative, a nonprofit think tank and progressive advocacy group. He has served in public policy roles at the federal, state and municipal levels, most recently in the Biden-Harris White House as a Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and as a member of the National Economic Council, where he coordinated federal agencies to develop and implement initiatives to support small businesses.
Prior to joining the Biden-Harris Administration, Negron was the Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity under Gov. JB Pritzker, where he spearheaded the establishment of roughly $1 billion in COVID-19 emergency relief programs for small businesses, nonprofits and local governments. Negron also previously served as the chief of policy to Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and served in the Obama-Biden Administration at the White House Office of Management and Budget and U.S. Department of Defense. Michael is a former U.S. Naval Officer and lives with his wife and children in Arlington, Va.
“Given his deep experience in both public service and economic policy, Michael Negron brings critical expertise to Small Business Majority,” said LaJuanna Russell, chair of Small Business Majority’s Board of Directors and a Virginia-based small business owner. “His background will be vital to advancing Small Business Majority’s work in support of America’s entrepreneurs, and I look forward to his collaboration.”
“At a time when small businesses are navigating tremendous upheaval and uncertainty, Michael Negron’s perspective is essential to our work,” said Small Business Majority Founder & CEO John Arensmeyer. “Small business owners need a champion with deep knowledge of economic policy and experience at the highest levels of government. Michael’s expertise is critical to help Small Business Majority support America’s job creators during this challenging time.”
