Impact of Closing the Health Coverage Gap on Texas Small Businesses Focal Point of Webinar

For Immediate Release:
Friday, April 17, 2015

Interactive call open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about the cost to the state's economy of low income Texans without health coverage and the potential impact to small businesses should the state decide to close the coverage gap

Fort Worth, Texas—The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with small business organization Small Business Majority, will host a webinar on Wednesday April 22, 2015, discussing the economic impact of Texas' uninsured population on the state's economy and the impact closing the coverage gap would have on small businesses.

The free webinar, which is open to all small business owners, will feature Small Business Majority's Director of the Midwest & West, Jesse Greenberg, who will discuss the cause of the health coverage gap, which affects more than 1 million Texans. Greenberg will also discuss the potential economic benefits of accepting federal funds to close the coverage gap, and the impact it could have on the state's economy and small businesses.

A question and answer period will follow the discussion.

"One of the big questions faced by Texas legislators, business owners and health system is how to extend coverage to uninsured Texans in the era of the health care reform," said Greenberg. "These interactive dialogues help small business owners get the information they need on a pressing public policy issue and are a great way for small businesses to discuss the deep and widespread impact closing Texas' coverage gap would have on this state."

The webinar will take place on Wednesday April 22, 2015, from 2:00-3:00 PM (CST). Small business owners can register for the interactive call online at: https://cc.readytalk.com/cc/s/registrations/new?cid=1lexvlc23o04.
