Bipartisan Effort on Jobs Package Encouraging Sign for Small Business

Statement by John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority, about jobs measures proposed in the House of Representatives and being considered in the Senate:

We're pleased lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are working together on a package of proposals put forth by members of the House of Representatives aimed at helping small businesses grow and create jobs. Proposals in the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act would address one of small businesses' biggest problems: a lack of access to credit. Recent opinion polling we released found 90 percent of small businesses say the availability of credit is a problem.

Small business owners are struggling just to keep their doors open. Now more than ever, small businesses need lawmakers to work together for their benefit if they're to resume their traditional role as the nation's primary job creators.

The House is expected to vote on this package later in the week, and senators have said they're crafting a similar set of proposals. We look forward to seeing what the Senate and House put together in their final package.
