Small business programs are at risk. In just the first month of the Trump Administration, we have witnessed the dismantling of a number of government agencies and programs, including a mass reduction in SBA staff and funding freezes across the government. And, more is likely to come. At-risk is the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), along with various Small Business Administration (SBA) and other government programs that provide capital, business services, procurement support and disaster relief to support small businesses.
In response, Small Business Majority is building a Small Business Rapid Response Coalition to proactively push back against these threats. Our coalition will mobilize key stakeholders, amplify the voices of small business owners and trusted business support organizations, pursue a sustained media campaign, engage with policymakers and conduct and disseminate research with the goal of demonstrating the real-world benefits to local communities of vital small business funding.
It is easy to feel powerless in the face of current events, but we hope to carve out a space for small business advocates to make a real impact, and we welcome your ideas. Join us for a discussion about the coalition as we explore how we all can best work together at this critical time for small businesses.
