Workforce of the future -- Are we ready?
Roundtable discussion for resource providers

Does your organization provide workforce training programs geared for high schoolers and/or youth ages 16 to 24? Are you interested in collaborating with local small businesses to train youth in Oakland through work-based learning opportunities?

If so, we want to hear from you!

Join Hack the Hood and Small Business Majority for a roundtable discussion about how workforce training agencies, educators and youth development organizations can coordinate with local small business owners to create work-based learning opportunities. Many school districts, non-profit organizations and other entities are working with local high school students and youth ages 16 to 24 to prepare them for the workforce. Through this roundtable series, we are learning small business owners are interested in being part of this process by providing opportunities like internships, mentorships, conducting mock interviews and more.

We are seeking input from workforce training agencies, educators and youth development organizations about best practices for implementing work-based opportunities at local businesses, learning about existing programs and services offered in Oakland and how to better support small businesses in the process. With this forum, we want to provide a space for engaging conversation and active participation among attendees.

This forum is specifically designed for educators, youth organizations, job training agencies and other resource providers. We are hosting a related forum for small business owners and business leaders on Monday, October 5th.
