What

Did you know that California state law only requires employers to provide 3 paid sick days a year? For many caregivers, care recipients, and their families, this just isn’t enough.

SB 616, a bill going through the California legislature right now, would raise that number to 7 days of paid sick leave a year! We need as many people as possible to support SB 616 right now.

That’s why we’re rallying in support of paid sick days for all on July 25 at 11 a.m. PT at The Umoja Center, 3347 W 43rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90008. We hope to see you there, please reply to this email if you can join us! During the rally, we’ll be hearing from caregivers, workers, activists, and more.

(Please note: The rally space will be wheelchair accessible )

We know that underpaid workers, most of whom are disproportionately women and people of color, are less likely to have access to the paid sick days they need to care for themselves and their families.

Not having the ability to take a paid sick day when you or your family are sick is just plain wrong. Workers shouldn’t have to get behind on bills because they’re sick and need to recover. We need the State Legislature and Governor to pass SB 616 this legislative session.

Please join us as we rally to support increased paid sick days in our state (at 11 a.m. PT at The Umoja Center 3347 W 43rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90008). Alternatively, the event will be livestreamed in case you are unable to be in person.

Let us know if you can make it!
