Since almost 100,000 small businesses closed permanently in the first 7 months of the pandemic and thousands more laid off workers, we have known that this crucial engine of economic opportunity would face an especially difficult recovery. Participants in this session will evaluate the success of government relief efforts so far and what additional policy steps are needed in the months to come. In addition, the discussion will focus on opportunities to transform the state of entrepreneurship, especially among disadvantaged geographic areas and populations, during this time of economic upheaval.
