Access to quality benefits like affordable healthcare and childcare is critical for ensuring small businesses can attract and retain a competitive and skilled workforce. Two recent Small Business Majority opinion polls underscore the importance of both benefits. Our data shows that most small business owners report their costs for insurance premiums, deductibles, copays, prescription drug copays and hospital visits have risen over the past few years. Access to childcare has also become a challenge for entrepreneurs; our research also shows that a lack of access to affordable childcare has put a significant burden on working parents and has impeded the ability of small businesses to retain a skilled workforce.
