What

Objectives for the event:

  1. Elevate and highlight the affordability challenges of consumer, labor, and businesses in the Central Coast to federal, state, and local policy makers and interested media outlets.
  2. Share high cost hospital case studies highlighting how high hospital prices drive up costs, the impact of HR1 on hospital finances, and ways hospitals can implement strategies to stay within the cost growth targets for:
    1. Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz
    2. Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula
    3. Salinas Valley Community Hospital
  3. Share the ways OHCA can help contain costs and improve health care affordability. 
  4. Invite federal, state, and local policy makers to build them up as OHCA and other health care affordability champions. These invites could include the following, but they wouldn’t necessarily have a place in the program:
    1. Federal House Members:
      1. Rep Lofgren
      2. Rep Panetta
    2. CA State Legislators:
      1. Sen Laird
      2. Asm Rivas
      3. Asm Addis
    3. County Supervisors:
      1. Wendy Root Askew
      2. Chris Atkins
  5. Collect video and written stories of people in the region impacted by high health care costs. Health Access can provide a videographer and collection materials.
