Bipartisan Jobs Package Step in Right Direction for Small Firms Struggling with Access to Credit

Original statement issued on March 22, 2012:

The bipartisan Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act, which passed the Senate today after being previously approved by the House of Representatives, will help address one of small business owners biggest problems: a lack of access to credit. Recent opinion polling we released found 90 percent of small businesses say the availability of credit is a problem.

Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle came together to work toward the good of small businesses, which is what our nation’s job creators need right now. While the JOBS Act would help shore up credit for small businesses looking to grow and expand, it is not a panacea for small employers’ credit woes. We encourage lawmakers to remain committed in their efforts to alleviate small businesses’ problems with access to credit, especially in these difficult economic times.

We hope the House and Senate can come to an agreement about any necessary changes that need to be made in order to expedite this bill to the president’s desk for approval.
