On March 11, Small Business Majority testified in support of Senate Bill 25-157, strengthen protections against deceptive trade practices for Colorado’s small businesses and consumers while protecting small businesses from wrongful accusations.

Today, Public Policy Director Awesta Sarkash sent a letter to Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin urging him to sign SB 826, Predetermination for licensing eligibility; prior convictions. The bill would provide much-needed clarity and fairness in Virginia’s occupational licensing laws by ensuring that entrepreneurs with prior convictions are not unfairly denied a license to work in their chosen profession.

Following the recent reintroduction of a bipartisan legislative package to expand the Employer-Provided Child Care Tax Credit (45F) and increase the supply of childcare, Small Business Majority sent a letter to sponsor offices emphasizing the need to invest in childcare beyond the 45F tax credit, which has historically benefited larger businesses and remained an impractical option for most small businesses.

On February 25, Small Business Majority Colorado Director Hunter Nelson submitted written testimony in opposition to SB 25-080, legislation that would allow credit unions to purchase state banks with approval from the State Banking Board. This bill could have unintended consequences on small business lending in rural Colorado communities, especially for the small agricultural businesses that are the backbone of farming communities.
