Event to Educate Small Businesses and Self-Employed on the Healthcare Law, New Retirement Savings Act
Event open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about the small business and individual healthcare marketplaces and the state's new retirement savings act
CHICAGO—West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WSCCI), Countryside Business Association, and the LaGrange Park Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with small business organization Small Business Majority, will host an event on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, to discuss the impact the healthcare law and the state's new retirement savings program—the Illinois Secure Choice Savings Program Act—is having on Illinois small businesses. The event will also discuss how entrepreneurs can enroll in the state's health insurance marketplaces.
"We believe it's important for small business owners to learn more about the laws that affect them most, including the healthcare law and Illinois' new retirement savings act," said Kenneth Grunke Executive Director, WSCCI. "These interactive dialogues are a great way for small businesses to get the information they need to take advantage of and comply with these laws, and for us to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns."
The free event, which is open to all small business owners, independent contractors and the self-employed, will feature Geraldine Aglipay, Midwest Outreach Manager, who will discuss the healthcare law's small business tax credits, wellness grants and cost containment provisions, as well as the state's new retirement savings plan. Aglipay, a licensed navigator, will also explain how the healthcare marketplace functions for self-employed business owners.
A question and answer period will follow the discussion.
"Small business owners are our biggest job creators," said Aglipay. "Helping them understand the complexities of things like the healthcare law and the state's new retirement savings gives these entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed and keep our economy strong."
The event will take place Tuesday, September 15, 2015, from 8:15 am — 10:00 am CDT at Adventist LaGrange Memorial Hospital, in the Dixon Room.
