Event to Educate Brokers about Healthcare Law and New Regulation Changes
Event open to all health insurance brokers; chance for brokers to learn more about the small business and individual health insurance marketplaces, and explore new regulation changes
Princeton, N.J.—Small Business Majority, a small business advocacy organization, in conjunction with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Internal Revenue Services (IRS) will host an interactive event on October 9, 2015 to help health insurance brokers get the latest information on the Affordable Care Act and learn about the tools and resources available to help them assist their small business clients. At the event, CMS will provide an overview of the online functionality of the small business health insurance marketplaces and representatives from the IRS will discuss new regulations that brokers need to be aware of to help their small business clients comply with and take advantage of the law.
"A broker's in-depth understanding of the healthcare law is vital to help small businesses find cost-saving measures and coverage options," said Lakezia Carmichael-Malcom, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. "We are thrilled to be part of this collaboration, which helps get health insurance brokers the information they need to help small businesses secure quality healthcare coverage, while providing us an opportunity to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns."
The free event, which is open to all brokers, will feature Small Business Majority's Outreach Manager, Aixa Acevedo, who will discuss the topics and tools most relevant to health insurance brokers, including an overview of the healthcare law, small business tax credits, the small business marketplaces, applications process and more. Acevedo will also discuss Small Business Majority's online tax credit calculator.
A question and answer period will follow the discussion.
Qualified attendees will be invited to join Small Business Majority's new Trusted Broker list, an online directory that allows small business owners to easily look up trusted brokers in their area. These brokers will not only have access to our extensive network of small businesses in New Jersey, but will also be featured on our Health Coverage Guide website, which provides small business owners valuable information about the healthcare law and how to navigate the individual and small business marketplaces.
"We've made it our mission to ensure New Jersey small business owners have access to the tools and resources they need to provide quality healthcare to their employees," said Acevedo. "We realize the important role brokers play in helping small businesses obtain coverage. Events like these help educate brokers on how to better assist small employers looking to secure healthcare coverage for themselves, their employees and their families."
The event will take place on October 9, 2015, 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM (EDT). The event will be located at New Jersey Hospital Association, 760 Alexander Road, Princeton, NJ 08540.
