The U.S. Department of Labor will lead an online discussion on Feb. 6, 2023, on the importance of the Family Medical Leave Act and why more must be done to help working families, as the nation marks the 30th anniversary of the bill’s passage in 2023.
Representatives of the department’s Women’s Bureau and the Colorado Department of Labor will join academics and other stakeholders to highlight how the FMLA protects many workers’ rights to take unpaid leave to care for themselves and family members. Panelists will also stress the need to expand these protections to help more working families and reflect on how the FMLA benefits employers’ bottom lines.
