The Agenda for Illinois’ Entrepreneurs

Illinois is home to more than 1.4 million small businesses, employing 2.4 million people and accounting for 99.6% of all businesses in the state.  They play a significant role in our state economy and workforce. However, national economic uncertainty coupled with an especially fast-changing business landscape has required small businesses to adapt, yet again. State governments must implement policies that address the new and historic burdens small businesses now face.

Meet our Outreach Team – Tasha Brown

Small Business Majority’s Outreach Team advocates for entrepreneurs on two fronts: It supports policies that benefit small firms and it offers workshops and events that help small business owners grow their companies. We have found this work to be even more important as small businesses experience rising inflation, supply chain disruptions and workforce challenges in the aftermath of the pandemic.

Navajo small business owner emphasizes the importance of clean energy transitions for small businesses

When Terry Norris left the Marine Corps, he needed a part-time job. He soon found one at a calibration lab working with the government on aerospace initiatives. On his first day there, he met his now wife. Just a few months later, they opened their own calibration lab in Palmdale, California. 27 years and 17 employees later, Precision Labs Calibration serves a variety of customer bases, including the medical, aerospace, agricultural and film industries.

Small Business Majority and business organizations submit comments to U.S. Treasury Department regarding SSBCI funding

Today, Small Business Majority and 42 other business organizations submitted recommendations to the U.S. Department of Treasury concerning the distribution of funding for Technical Assistance (TA) programs and activities that support small business ecosystems.

Today, hundreds of small business owners and business organizations added their names to a letter urging Congress to pass the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The letter outlines how small businesses stand to benefit from the legislation, namely by improving access to healthcare, increasing tax enforcement on large corporations, and making meaningful climate change investments.
