Today, John Arensmeyer submitted a letter to Chairwoman Waters (D-CA-29) and Ranking Member McHenry (R-NC-10) of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services urging passage of HR 6814. The Small Business Fair Debt Collection Act extends protections under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) to small businesses with loans or obligations that are less than $2.5 million to ensure debt collectors have guardrails on what they can do to collect these debts.

Today, John Arensmeyer submitted comments on the notice of proposed rulemaking issued by the Internal Revenue Service, titled “Affordability of Employer Coverage for Family Members of Employees” (REG-114339-21). The proposed rule would amend the existing regulations regarding eligibility for the premium tax credit to provide that affordability of employer-sponsored minimum essential coverage (employer coverage) for family members of an employee is determined based on the employee's share of the cost of covering the employee and those family members, not the cost of cover
