Small Business Majority Selects Maryland Small Business Owner for Annual Regional Small Business Advocate Award
Owner of Lanham-based KBQ Real Barbeque selected to receive Small Business Advocate Award for work on paid sick leave
Lanham, Md.—National small business advocacy group Small Business Majority has selected Lya Wesley Britt, the owner of KBQ Real Barbeque in Lanham, to receive its inaugural regional Small Business Advocate Award for speaking up on issues that matter to small businesses, including paid sick leave. Britt's restaurant serves unique and freshly prepared barbeque. She received the award for her work advocating for small business issues through actions like speaking to media and testifying before lawmakers.
"Small Business Majority works with small business owners across the country to help them get involved in the public policy process," said Erik Rettig, Mid-Atlantic Outreach Manager for Small Business Majority. "This year, we're issuing our first annual Small Business Advocate Awards to recognize local leaders who have gone above and beyond in their role as advocates for the small business community. Lya Wesley Britt has been a powerful voice for small businesses on issues like paid sick leave."
