Statement by John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority:

Judge Roger Vinson's ruling today on the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is yet another move that grabs headlines but does nothing to help the millions of small business owners suffering from the high cost of health insurance.

The Affordable Care Act isn't perfect, but it has many provisions that will bring relief to small business owners struggling to afford insurance. Rather than undermining this law, opponents should focus on ways to strengthen it. Small business owners need policymakers to bolster the benefits the law provides, such as the small business tax credits and state insurance exchanges, not waste time trying to dismantle them.

Small business owners can't afford to return to a broken healthcare system that threatens their competitiveness, discourages entrepreneurship and makes them unable to play their historical role as the nation's primary job creators. They need solutions, not legal diversions, to the problems they face.

Small Business Majority is a national nonprofit organization focused on solving the biggest problems facing America's 28 million small businesses. We conduct extensive opinion and economic research and work with small business owners, policy experts and elected officials nationwide to bring nonpartisan small business voices to the public policy table.
