As President Biden prepares to deliver his second State of the Union address, Small Business Majority surveyed small business owners and decisionmakers around the country to better understand their biggest challenges, as well as the top policy issues they want to see addressed by policymakers.

The poll shows that small businesses need government support to cope with myriad challenges. While inflation and supply costs, the cost of healthcare, and supply chain disruptions are some of their top concerns, small businesses also are burdened by workforce shortages, childcare access and cost, and rising interest rates. Small businesses would like Congress and the administration to address these and other issues, including reducing taxes for microbusinesses, passing a federal paid family leave program, restoring access to reproductive rights, and leveling the playing field for small business to compete with their larger competitors.
