On February 12, Small Business Majority Senior Public Policy Director Awesta Sarkash sent a letter to the New Mexico House of Representatives urging them to pass HB 4. This legislation would increase the share of surtax revenue dedicated to the Healthcare Affordability Fund over the next several years until the fund reaches 100% distribution, creating sustainable, reliable investments. As a result, small businesses and workers would be shielded from rising healthcare costs.
