Event open to all small businesses; chance for Ohio entrepreneurs to learn about clean energy resources and policies that can benefit small business
Columbus, Ohio—Forge Columbus, in conjunction with small business organization Small Business Majority, will discuss energy efficiency resources available to small business owners and how clean energy policies, like the Columbus Green Community Plan, can help small business owners save money on their energy bills. The event, held on Thursday, April 2, 2015, will also discuss the city's plans for continued adoption and deployment of clean energy solutions in Columbus.
"Small businesses are eager for pragmatic, innovative energy policies that will curb the effects of climate change and help reduce their ever-increasing energy costs," said Reese Neader, Founder and CEO of Forge Columbus. "This event is a great way for small businesses to get the most up-to-date information on new energy policies and learn about how they can increase resiliency by integrating cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy systems."
The free event, which is open to all small business owners, will feature Small Business Majority's Ohio Outreach Manager, Michaela Hahn Burriss, who will discuss the topics most relevant to small employers, including small business support for clean energy policies; extreme weather events and their impact on small businesses and the economy; and resources available to small business owners to help them become more energy efficient and save money on utility bills.
A question and answer period will follow the presentation.
"As our policymakers move forward in implementing clean energy policies, it's important they understand the small business perspective so employers' unique needs and interests can be addressed," said Hahn Burriss. "Since 2010, we've polled entrepreneurs on clean energy policies and found consistent and broad support. Clean energy policies reduce energy costs, help small businesses unleash new economic opportunities and spur economic growth in new energy infrastructure and energy efficiency technologies—all while addressing the growing threat of climate change."
