Event open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about healthcare law and share their ideas and concerns

Camden, NJ̢??‰۝The Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez Downtown Camden County Library Branch, Center for Family Services, in conjunction with small business organization Small Business Majority, will host an interactive event on Thursday, June 19, 2014 on New Jersey̢??‰?s new health insurance marketplace, and how it impacts small employers.

̢???We believe it̢??‰?s important for small business owners to learn more about the healthcare law, New Jersey̢??‰?s new marketplace and how it all affects them,̢???? said Robin Stockton, Program Director of the Center for Family Services. ̢???These interactive dialogues are a great way for small businesses to get the information they need to take advantage of and comply with key provisions of the healthcare law, and for us to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns.̢????

The free event, which is open to all small business owners, will feature Small Business Majority̢??‰?s New Jersey Outreach Manager, Aixa Acevedo, who will discuss the topics most relevant to small businesses. These include small business tax credits, wellness grants and cost containment provisions. Acevedo will also provide detailed information on New Jersey̢??‰?s health insurance marketplace̢??‰۝an online marketplace where small business owners can pool their buying power to help drive down insurance costs. New Jersey̢??‰?s marketplace is currently run by the federal government, because state lawmakers chose not to create their own. Acevedo will explain how the marketplace functions and how small employers can join.

A question and answer period will follow the discussion.

̢???Access to the new health insurance marketplace will provide new options for many entrepreneurs to obtain health insurance for themselves and their employees. This marketplace will allow small employers to pool their buying power, which will rein in costs and help them better afford health insurance,̢???? said Acevedo. ̢???This event will inform small business owners about how the marketplaces and the Affordable Care Act̢??‰?s other business-friendly provisions can help so they can take advantage of them.̢????

The event will take place on Thursday, June 19 from 6 p.m. ̢??‰?? 6:45 p.m. at The Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez Downtown Camden County Library Branch, 301 North 5th Street, Camden, NJ 08102. For more information, please contact Aixa Acevedo at [email protected] or (646) 801-9489.
