Event open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about healthcare law and share ideas about how to implement it in Missouri

St. Louis, MO̢??‰۝Justine PETERSEN, in conjunction with small business advocacy organization Small Business Majority, will host an interactive event on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 on the healthcare law̢??‰?s impact to Missouri small businesses and how small businesses can benefit from the state̢??‰?s health insurance marketplace, which opened this month.

̢???We believe it̢??‰?s important for small business owners to learn more about the healthcare law and how it affects them,̢???? said Galen Gondolfi, Justine PETERSEN Senior Loan Counselor and Chief Communications Officer. ̢???These interactive dialogues are a great way for them to get the information they need to take advantage of and comply with key provisions of the law, and for us to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns.̢????

Seating is limited for this free event, which is open to all small business owners, and will feature Small Business Majority̢??‰?s Health Coverage Guide Paula Hughes, who will discuss the topics most relevant to small businesses. These include small business tax credits, wellness grants and cost containment provisions. Hughes will also provide detailed information on Missouri̢??‰?s health insurance marketplace̢??‰۝an online exchange where small business owners can pool their buying power to help drive down insurance costs. Missouri has a federally facilitated marketplace because state lawmakers chose not to create their own. Hughes will explain how the exchange functions and how small employers can enroll.

A question and answer period will follow the discussion.

̢???Access to the new health insurance marketplace will provide new options for many entrepreneurs to obtain health insurance for them and their employees. This marketplace will allow small employers to pool their buying power, which will rein in costs and help them better afford health insurance,̢????said Hughes. ̢???These events will inform small business owners about how the marketplaces and the Affordable Care Act̢??‰?s other business-friendly provisions can help so they can take advantage of them.̢????

The Lunch N̢??‰? Learn will take place on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Justine PETERSEN offices, 1023 N. Grand Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63103. Lunch will be provided. Small business owners can register for the event by calling Maria Sennet 314-533-2411, x100 or emailing [email protected].
