Event open to all businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about healthcare law and provide feedback on the marketplaces in California

Fresno, CA̢??‰۝Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with small business advocacy organization Small Business Majority and Health Law Guide for Business, will host an interactive event on Wednesday, Sept.17 on the healthcare law̢??‰?s impact on California small businesses and how they can benefit from the new insurance marketplace, Covered California.

̢???We believe it̢??‰?s important for business owners to learn more about the healthcare law and how it affects them,̢???? said Tate Hill II, President and CEO of the Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce. ̢???These interactive dialogues are a great way for small business owners to get the information they need to take advantage of and comply with key provisions of the new law, and for us to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns.̢????

The free event, which is open to all small business owners, will feature Small Business Majority̢??‰?s Central California Outreach Manager, Mark Herbert, who will discuss the topics most relevant to small businesses. These include how the marketplace functions for self-employed business owners, small business tax credits, wellness grants and cost containment provisions. A question and answer forum will follow the discussion.

̢???Access to the new health insurance marketplace will provide new options for many entrepreneurs to obtain health insurance for them and their employees. This marketplace will allow small employers to pool their buying power, which can rein in costs and help them better afford health insurance,̢???? said Herbert. ̢???Small businesses have been waiting for decades for something to help bring down their costs, and the new marketplaces have the ability to do just that.̢????

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 17th from 7:30 AM to 9 AM at the Downtown Business Hub, 1444 Fulton St. in Fresno. Small business owners can register for the event at www.fmbcc.com or by contacting the Fresno Metro Black Chamber at (559) 441-7929. For more information, please contact Mark Herbert at (916) 668-9630.
