Event open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn how they can access the credit they need to grow and expand their business

NEW YORK — Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber (GVCCC), in conjunction with small business organization Small Business Majority, will host an event on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, to educate small businesses on how they can access the capital and credit needed to grow their business and bolster our economy.

"One of the biggest challenges facing small business owners and entrepreneurs has been and continues to be the inability to access sufficient credit and capital," said Attorney & Consultant Abel L. Pierre with the Greenwich Village Chelsea Chamber. "While the Small Business Administration is offering more loans to entrepreneurs than before the Great Recession, many entrepreneurs are still having a hard time finding the credit they need."

The event, which is open to all small business owners, will focus on ways entrepreneurs can increase financial stability, including how small businesses can acquire loans, access lines of credits and boost their business credit profile to prepare for the future.

A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

"Our scientific opinion polling reveals 90 percent of small business owners believe the availability of credit is a problem," said Erik Rettig, Northeast Outreach Manager for Small Business Majority. "And, while there are some programs in place to help provide the capital small businesses need, there are significant gaps that remain, including in minority and rural communities and for women and veterans. Events like these provide entrepreneurs from all walks of life the tools they need to seek out traditional financing options, as well as explore alternative financing options, including online lending, peer-to-peer lending and crowdfunding."

This event is free for GVCCC members and $15 for non-members. It will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm (EST).

Small business owners can register for the event online here.
