Event open to all health insurance brokers; chance for brokers to learn more about the small business and individual health insurance marketplaces, and how to connect with small businesses looking to secure healthcare coverage

Newark, N.J.—Small Business Majority, a small business advocacy organization, in conjunction with the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters (NJAHU), will host a monthly interactive event starting Thursday, March 26, 2015, to help health insurance brokers learn how to connect with and be a resource for small employers looking to secure affordable and quality healthcare coverage.

Qualified attendees will be invited to join Small Business Majority's new Trusted Broker list, an online directory that allows small business owners to easily look up trusted brokers in their area. These brokers will not only have access to our extensive network of small businesses in New Jersey, but will also be featured on our Health Coverage Guide website, which provides small business owners valuable information about the new healthcare law and how to navigate the individual and small business marketplaces.

"A broker's in-depth understanding of specific insurance plans and long-standing industry expertise is vital to help small businesses find cost-saving measures and coverage options," said Ross Honig, President of NJAHU. "We are thrilled to be part of this collaboration which helps connect health insurance brokers and the small businesses that need them the most, while providing us an opportunity to get feedback on their thoughts and concerns."

The free event, which is open to all brokers, will feature Small Business Majority's New Jersey Outreach Manger, Aixa Acevedo, who will discuss the topics most relevant to health insurance brokers, including an overview of the healthcare law, small business tax credits, the SHOP marketplace, applications process and more.

A question and answer period will follow the discussion.

"We've made it our mission to ensure New Jersey small business owners have access to the tools and resources they need to provide quality healthcare to their employees," said Acevedo. "We realize the important role brokers play in helping small businesses obtain coverage. Events like these help brokers learn how to better connect with small employers looking to secure coverage for themselves, their employees and their families."

The event will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2015, from 12pm — 2pm (EST). The event will be located at the Rutgers Business School of Newark, 1 Washington, Newark, NJ 07102.
