Event open to all small businesses; chance for entrepreneurs to learn about individual and small business health insurance marketplaces

Boulder, Colo.—The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Boulder Small Business Development Center, in conjunction with small business organization Small Business Majority, will host an interactive event on Monday, January 26, 2015, on the healthcare law's impact on Colorado small businesses and how small employers can benefit from the state's insurance marketplace, Connect for Health Colorado.

The free event, which is open to all small business owners, will feature Small Business Majority's Colorado Outreach Manager, Tim Gaudette, who will discuss Colorado's small business marketplace, where small business owners with fewer than 50 employees can pool their buying power to help drive down insurance costs, and explain how entrepreneurs and their employees can obtain healthcare coverage through the individual marketplace before the Feb. 15 open enrollment deadline. Gaudette will also discuss topics such as small business tax credits, wellness grants and cost containment provisions.

"We believe it's important for small business owners to learn more about the healthcare law and prepare themselves and their employees for the Feb. 15 enrollment deadline," said Gaudette. "Whether or not small businesses are providing coverage, their employees often look to them for information about healthcare options. By having a greater understanding about the Affordable Care Act, small business owners can educate their employees about the various options available to them to purchase affordable health insurance, either through employer-sponsored health coverage or the individual marketplaces."

A question and answer period will follow the discussion. Local certified insurance agents, healthcare providers and other healthcare experts will be available for assistance.

The event will take place on Monday, January 26, 2015, from 10:30am — 12:30pm (MST). Small business owners can register for the event online at https://bouldersmallbizacaevent.eventbrite.com.
