Statement by John Arensmeyer, Founder & CEO of Small Business Majority, on the Senate̢??‰?s passage today of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2013

The Senate̢??‰?s passage today of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act of 2013 is good news for small business owners, their workers and the economy. Small employers support policies that maximize their ability to attract and retain quality workers and help them grow their businesses. This legislation would do just that by leveling the playing field for small employers and workers and eliminating inefficiencies and costs that cut into profits and undermine small businesses̢??‰? bottom lines.

**Small business experts and small businesses across the country available for comment **

Lawmakers̢??‰? agreement today on a short-term bill to fund the government and avoid a default is a relief given the damage the shutdown has done to small businesses and the havoc a default could have wreaked on the economy. However, it̢??‰?s imperative lawmakers find a long-term solution to our budget woes and the ongoing debt ceiling debate, so small businesses and the economy don̢??‰?t continue bearing the brunt of this chaotic style of governing.
