Sausalito, CA, July 22, 2009: Recent research shows the majority of Louisiana small business owners believe healthcare reform is necessary, and are willing to be part of a solution that controls costs and guarantees coverage for everyone.
A statewide survey of small business owners found that affordability is the primary obstacle in obtaining health insurance. Louisiana was one of 14 states polled over the past three months by Small Business Majority, a leading national small business advocacy organization focused on healthcare reform.
The House tri-committee and Senate HELP healthcare reform bills unveiled this week are a major step forward in fixing our nation's broken healthcare system. We commend the committees' efforts to bring us to this point.

Small Business Majority is encouraged by the three House committees that have collaborated on an important new discussion draft to reform our broken healthcare system. The high cost of health insurance is the most important issue for American entrepreneurs, limiting the formation and expansion of untold numbers of businesses their #1 need is comprehensive healthcare reform.
Our research shows that small business owners want and need reform 72% of small business owners in our scientific polls across the country say they are struggling to afford health insurance.
Yesterday a bipartisan group of lawmakers in the House expressed concern about the possibility of healthcare reform placing too much of a financial burden on small businesses.
