As a representative of the more than four million small businesses in California, Small Business Majority is pleased to support AB 1091, which will discourage anticompetitive behaviors in the healthcare industry. This bill will prevent anticompetitive contracting provisions and strengthen oversight of hospital mergers and consolidation by the Attorney General, a key measure to control healthcare costs and affordability for small businesses.

This would in turn impact healthcare costs for Californians, including members of the small business community who already struggle with access to affordable care.

According to a recent study conducted by Junior Achievement USA, 3 in 5 American teens (60%) would be more interested in starting their own business than having a traditional job. Young Georgians should have the resources and support to start and grow their own business.

Small Business Majority’s Illinois policy agenda outlines policies that advance and promote equitable pathways for entrepreneurship while ensuring small businesses are key to a thriving and inclusive economy. The state’s 1.2 million small businesses employ 2.5 million people (about 45% of the private workforce), with firms of fewer than 20 employees creating the largest net job gains.  Yet, Illinois small businesses continue to face setbacks stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
