Connor also discussed the impact of tariffs on businesses, the threats posed to the SBA, MBDA, and CDFI Fund and the importance of taking a wholistic approach to small business policy advocacy.

Session Description

Federal Policy Opportunities to Boost Local Small Business Growth

Although traditional economic development programs focus on attracting large employers to

communities through various incentives, evidence suggests that customized business services,

like those provided by LISC's BDO Network members, can be more effective at encouraging job

creation and investment in distressed communities. Hear from leaders across the small

business ecosystem about federal policy opportunities to accelerate local solutions that

promote small business growth and revitalize downtowns.
