Small Business Majority provides testimony in support of IL CRA

On October 18, 2021, Midwest Region Director Geri Aglipay testified before the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in support of the Illinois Community Reinvestment Act (IL CRA). This legislation will combat ageism in lending and uplift entrepreneurs of color and women entrepreneurs.

Small Business Owners Add Their Names in Support of Human Infrastructure

Hundreds of small business owners have added their names onto a sign-on letter calling on Congress to immediately invest in human infrastructure. Entrepreneurs and employees need access to benefits that will help us compete and ensure employees have the resources they need to fully participate in the workforce, as well as reforms to level the playing field for small businesses, particularly when it comes to tax reform.

The White House's $2 trillion proposed American Jobs Plan—an infrastructure reform plan—continues to be hotly debated on Capitol Hill, and proposals to pay for infrastructure investments via tax reforms are some of the most contested pieces of the plan. A new small business survey reveals that small businesses strongly favor key provisions of the American Jobs Plan, and they support paying for them by enacting reforms that would require wealthy corporations and individuals to pay a higher share of taxes.  

Small Business Majority supports Business Personal Property Tax Reform

Small Business Majority will submit testimony to the Senate Finance Committee in suport of House Bill 21-1312 on May 26, which would provide tax relief for small business owners through the Business Personal Property Tax Reform and eliminate wasteful tax loopholes that don’t benefit our economy.
