On July 6, Small Business Majority, along with Good Business Colorado and local small business owners, sent a letter to the Colorado Division of Insurance urging them to address issues with key stakeholders in the Colorado Option to ensure they are participating in the premium rate reduction process.

On July 6, Small Business Majority's Colorado Director Lindsey Vigoda testified before the Colorado Division of Insurance to provide comments on the Colorado Option’s small group market premium reductions to ensure that health insurance carriers and hospitals are making all efforts to lower healthcare costs. This will greatly benefit Coloradans and small businesses and make healthcare more affordable for all.

On May 4, Small Business Majority's National Women's Entrepreneurship Director Rachel Shanklin submitted a letter to North Carolina House Leadership in opposition to Senate Bill 20, legislation that would ban abortion procedures except in very limited instances. Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including abortion, threatens the health, independence, and economic stability of women small business owners and their employees.

On April 25, Small Business Majority's Colorado Director Lindsey Vigoda testified before the Colorado House Public & Behavioral Health & Human Services Committee on HB 23-1303, legislation that includes critical protections for Coloradans and small businesses in the event of an insurance company failure, which would severely impact their ability to access affordable healthcare.

On March 24, Sandra Payne, co-owner of Denver Concrete Vibrator, testified before the Colorado House Health & Insurance Committee in support of HB 23-1215, which will make a difference in healthcare accessibility and affordability for Coloradans, and specifically for small business owners.

Midwest Director Tasha Brown testifies to express our support for Senate Bill 1912, legislation that will provide the Department of Insurance the authority to reject unreasonable rate increases for health insurance in both the individual and small group markets.

As a representative of the more than four million small businesses in California, Small Business Majority is pleased to support AB 1091, which will discourage anticompetitive behaviors in the healthcare industry. This bill will prevent anticompetitive contracting provisions and strengthen oversight of hospital mergers and consolidation by the Attorney General, a key measure to control healthcare costs and affordability for small businesses. 

As a leading representative of the four million small businesses in California, Small Business Majority writes to Senate Health Committee Chair to oppose SB 774 (Jones), which would severely limit the authority of California’s Attorney General to protect access to and affordability of hospital services provided by most hospitals in California. This would in turn impact healthcare costs for Californians, including members of the small business community who already struggle with access to affordable care.
