New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce

The New Mexico Green Chamber of Commerce (NMGCC) was founded in 2010 with the goal of promoting strong local economies fueled by New Mexico-owned, independent businesses. The NMGCC creates new opportunities for business by advocating on behalf of renewable energy, strengthening local economies and seizing the green business advantage. Together with its local chapters, the NMGCC is part of a coalition of businesses and organizations dedicated to building healthy economies in New Mexico’s diverse communities.

For every one large business in Pennsylvania, there are 246 small businesses diligently working to reenergize the state’s economy: Small firms make up 98.3% of the state’s employers. These entrepreneurs are doing everything they can to hire, grow and move their businesses and the state’s economy forward. Small business owners in Pennsylvania strongly believe the country needs to move toward clean energy and that new energy policies will transform the economy and help them create new jobs. They support comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation currently being discussed in the US Senate. Support for a climate and energy bill from Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey would be a winner with small business owners back home. Small Business Majority and Main Street Alliance commissioned opinion surveys of small business owners in 7 states across the country to learn their attitudes toward the clean energy bill being debated in Washington.

The poll showed that among small businesses, there is strong support for the clean energy and climate legislation currently being debated; small businesses believe that moving the country to clean energy is a smart way to restart the economy and help small businesses create jobs. A majority of those polled want their business to be part of a new clean energy economy.

Owner of Philly pet store won’t call off the dogs when it comes to fighting ACA repeal

Fifteen years ago, Andrea Deutsch decided to leave her position at a Philadelphia law practice to pursue her dreams of become a small business owner. She opened up a shop in the small town of Narberth, PA called Spot’s—The Place for Paws, where she sells healthy food, treats, toys, and accessories for dogs and cats. Despite starting a new life, this former attorney could not completely sever her ties from the Philadelphia Bar Association. That’s because before the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), they provided her only health insurance option because of her Type 1 diabetes.

It’s considered common sense that new parents are in favor of paid leave, as we want to spend time with our children and understand that others parents do as well.
