Statement by John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority:

Two amendments introduced this week to the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program blocking the Environmental Protection Agency's authority to enforce the Clean Air Act has nothing to do with small businesses and won't create jobs. Whether permanent or temporary in their approach, both are simply the latest political stunts designed to hamper the work of an agency that is vital to fostering a 21st century economy.

Statement by John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority:

The latest attempt by some members of the House of Representatives to defund provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is an affront to America's small business owners and the millions they employ. If opponents of the law truly cared about strengthening the economy and creating jobs, they would concentrate on improving the law instead of using petty political maneuvers to prevent it from achieving its goal, lowering healthcare costs for small businesses and all Americans.

Statement by John Arensmeyer, CEO, Small Business Majority:

Lawmakers in opposition to the Affordable Care Act have been calling one Congressional hearing after another in their attempt to discredit the new law. But research we've submitted for hearings this week and last month on how the law impacts the economy clearly shows the ACA holds tremendous benefits for small businesses and the economy as a whole. If the law's opponents want to help rebuild our struggling economy and create jobs like they claim, they should focus on strengthening the Act instead of trying to tear it down.

Fixing this provision will allow us to refocus our efforts toward smooth implementation of the law and ensure America's 28 million small businesses receive the myriad benefits it provides.
